Child Safety Seat Checks

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1-13 in the United States. The proper use of child car seats is one of the simplest and most effective methods available for protecting the lives of our young children in the event of a motor vehicle crash. However, 3 out of every 4 children in child safety seats are not properly secured, or even worse, not restrained at all. Only the correct use of child car seats will offer the protection your child needs.

Once a year, as part of National Seat Check Saturday, the South River Police Department hosts a free Child Safety Seat Check event. Officers who are nationally certified technicians are on hand to inspect and assist with proper installation of child safety seats for any age - newborn through youth booster.

In addition, appointments for free child safety seat inspections are available year-round with the South River Police Department. To schedule an appointment, call 732-254-1150 ext. 107 or ext. 111.
