Unoccupied Residences

Are you vacationing or travelling soon? Would you like an officer to check on your residence while you’re away? The South River Police Department offers an Unoccupied Residence Program.

As part of this free program, South River residents can complete and submit a form to let us know when a residence will be unoccupied. A police officer will then check on your home as time permits during his or her normal patrol duties.

This form also allows you to make us aware of any vehicles which will be at the residence, provide us with your contact information and let us know if any friends or relatives will be checking on your residence while you’re away.

The Unoccupied Residence Form can be downloaded below or picked up at Police Headquarters located at 61 Main Street. Once completed, the form can be faxed to us at 732-613-6103 or dropped off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Police Headquarters.

If you return earlier than indicated on the form or your return is delayed, please be sure to let us know by calling 732-238-1000.

Please note that this program is intended for residences which are unoccupied due to short-term travel or vacation plans. It is separate from the Borough of South River’s long-term vacant property ordinance.
